Commodities are still the best major investment class

“The basic case for commodities is simple. China and India are rising inexorably as consumers of commodities on a scale not seen before in the history of man. Hence demand is rising.

Metals Merger Mania – Say It Three Times Fast

The Big Build-Out basket of stocks, up 30% year to date (YTD), is turning out to a very profitable collection of stocks.  This past week it surpassed CEF as the top performer on the week in review roster of stocks.  Here are the returns of its top performers: FAL 87.9%, N 77.4%, BUCY 51.4%, PCU 34.1% and BHP 28.1%.

So why didn’t Doug buy precious metals? He’s a bright guy, and well informed on a variety of topics. Evidence and intelligence aren’t holding him back. I believe he’s waiting to feel ready.

Southern Copper: A High-Grade Mining Play

The following is a great article on one of the stocks in my Big Build-Out basket.  The basket is up 27.8% year to date.

Source: The Motley Fool

Southern Copper should continue to benefit from robust global demand for the red metal, the fact that the company holds the largest amount of proven copper reserves of any publicly traded company, and the resolution of work-stoppages at two of its largest mines. Did I mention that Southern Copper is attractively valued, and carries an 8.8% yield? What’s not to like?
